About this camp

Space Center Houston Space U Odyssey is an immersive five-day, overnight STEM experience for campers ages 11-17, blending hands-on space exploration with classic summer camp activities. The program is a collaboration between Space Center Houston, NASA, and Camp Strake, where programming is split between Space Center Houston and Camp Strake. They develop STEM skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking through challenges like rocket building and launching, lunar navigation, and a space nutrition challenge. The camp also includes classic outdoor adventures such as swimming, canoeing, rock climbing, ziplining, archery, and ropes courses. A key highlight is a day exploring NASA Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston, offering behind-the-scenes access to astronaut training facilities and mission control. The experience aims to empower campers to challenge themselves and adapt to obstacles, much like a real mission crew.
